- Partnering with hospitals and doctors to create full medical plans for those who test positive for genes related to cancers.
- Fostering a community for those who test positive for genes related to cancers and their loved ones, and promoting public interest and awareness in survivorship efforts for those who test positive for genes related to cancers.
- Provide financial services and charitable fundraising to support and help others with predispositions to hereditary and genetic cancers, including BRCA (breast cancer gene).
Our Beneficiaries
This initiative will serve to help a wide variety of community members.
- People who already have cancer and are diagnosed with a genetic predisposition (and also their at-risk family members).
- People who have been diagnosed with a genetic predisposition (such as the BRACA gene) and need help for what to do next (as well as their at-risk family members).
- People who do not have a confirmed genetic predisposition but need/want to get tested.
An in-depth care and prevention plan will be developed for these patients with a diagnosed genetic predisposition and support to help them successfully navigate the plan that will be provided by a team of individuals at Sylvester funded by the initiative, including a genetic counselor, two advanced nurse practitioners, a patient navigator, and a psychologist. The funding will also support research, patient education, awareness, and survivorship support programs for these patients with genetic predispositions.
